Mission

As believers whom God has gathered together under the Cross of Christ, we view this journey of life by faith. We, God’s people, are called, strengthened and encouraged together under a clear mission to be:

Developing fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ along life’s journey.

Our mission is drawn from the very command of Christ given to his church as Christ said to them, that is to us all,”All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ¹⁹ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18b-20 (NIV)

Just how are people transformed into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ along life’s Journey?  Transformation begins with God, who made it possible for us to be reconciled to Him through Christ’s death on the cross. (see 2 Cor. 5: 17-20) In the water and Word of God combined in our Baptism, God works in us His gift of Faith. This Transformation continues as God’s mighty Spirit continues to grow, strengthen and nurture that faith in our hearts. God, by His promised Holy Spirit, calls and gathers us connecting us to Him and one another. God also calls  us to continue growing that faith through His Word as we hear it faithfully proclaimed, and as we feast at the Table of the Lord where in-with-and-under the bread and the wine we receive the very Body and Blood of Christ in this journey of faith. God also calls us to be serving each other, our community, and our world in His name.

Core Values

At the heart of who we are as a body of believers gathered together under the cross and banner of Christ we find our core values.  Our core values are drawn from Scripture and are those things that mark us the church, the living body of Christ in this world.

• Fellowship Providing an environment that nurtures fellowship across the lifespan.
• Learning Offering engaging and challenging Bible study for people of ALL ages.
• Community Empowering people for witness and Christ like servant-hood in the community, nation, and the world.
• Service Providing Christ-like care, and empowering people to care for others.
• Stewardship Equipping people to manage the life and resources God has entrusted to them in a Christ-like manner

Vision

Our vision to carry out this mission is revealed in the Bible and received by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Within this vision our Core Values are found, the very purposes for the church – worship, prayer, fellowship, learning, community, service, and stewardship.  This vision is what the leadership of Cross View envisions as God’s vision for Cross View.

Strategy

Resting on God’s Promise that he journeys with us, we have developed a strategy for becoming more fully-devoted followers of Christ.  This strategy focuses our ministry planning and leadership. Four important words for our strategy are clarity, movement, alignment and focus. We must keep this strategy clear. We must help people move from connecting to growing to serving. We must align all of our efforts, volunteers, staff, and ministry to this strategy. We must stay focused, so that things that are not helping us to fulfill our mission, vision, and strategy do not take valuable resources of time, talents, and treasures.

Our strategy is, by the power of the Holy Spirit,to “develop more fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ” as we measure and improve the three pillars of our vision:
