Spring 2024 Events

Women’s Bible Study - Leaning on Jesus, A Study of God’s Strength

Women’s Bible study book is entitled “Leaning on Jesus, a Study of God’s Strength” by Deb Burma. They meet the first Monday of every month at 9:30 AM in room 218 at church. Please feel free to join as new members are always welcome. For newcomers, the book is available from Amazon or www.CPH.org. If you have any questions, please contact Marcy at mpnordhus@gmail.com.

Starting April 7 – May 19, Cross View will offer a Sunday morning Bible class from 9:30-10:30 am each week in the Fellowship hall (Rooms 209-211) titled “Candid Discussions on Today’s Hot Issues.”  We will discuss issues of human sexuality, Wokism, and more.  The class will present a Biblically-based, gospel-response to some of today’s hot issues, taking into account how they relate to our lives as Christians as well as our lives as citizens of the USA. Barb Coffin will be leading a Family Life adult education class for parents of all ages of kids starting Sunday, April 14 to May 19 at 9:30-10:30am in room 223 (the chapel upstairs). We will be using the book Boundaries with Kids by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend. The class will discuss Biblically based principles to define appropriate boundaries and consequences for your kids, set limits and still be a loving parent, bring balance to an out-of-control family life, and much more. You are invited to attend Arise with the Guys (https//www.arisewiththeguys.com) program at Grace Church in Eden Prairie and then have lunch together at Cross View on April 20th. Meet at Cross View at 7:45 AM and carpool together to Grace for the program from 9 to 11 followed by lunch running until 1:00 PM. The cost is $15 which includes the program and lunch.

Here's the agenda for the day:

Coffee and Conversation 9:00am - 11:00 am We will gather at Cross View’s Great Commission Room for coffee, goodies, and conversation about Lorie Hartshorn’s video presentation "Found." What was lost in Eden is FOUND in Jesus Christ!

Lunch Out! 11:30am - 1:00 pm We will have lunch at "The Tavern on France" in Edina. Each person will pay for their own lunch.

Craft Show Outing 2:00pm - 3:00 pm Visit the "Candleberry on the Lakes Spring Boutique & Craft Show" in Edina.

Attend as many of these events as your schedule allows.

Please help the Women’s Ministry fill “Healing Flats Welcome Bags” for each guest who stays at either Mike’s House or Gordon’s House in Rochester, Minnesota. Healing Flats (healingflats.org) is a non-profit ministry begun by Chen Mellema and joined by Susan Bentley to provide short term affordable housing for people undergoing treatment for chronic illnesses at the Mayo Clinic. 

Charitable donations for Healing Flats will be collected starting April 7 through the gathering. The following are what Chen and Susan would appreciate having to prepare the Welcome Bags.

Large plain gift bags to fill with the following items:

·  Individually wrapped cleaning sponges

·  Hand soap

·  Bars of soap

·  Kleenex boxes

·  Individually wrapped toothbrushes

·  Full size shampoo and conditioner

·  Boxes of Ziploc bags

·  Paper towels

·  Blank cards (to write letters), stamps

·  Bottled water

 

Other things that are helpful and are always needed in each house:

·  Laundry detergent

·  Dish soap

·  Dishwasher detergent

A donation receptacle will be located in the upper lobby at Cross View and will be accepted through April 27th

If you are a current small group leader, please plan to join us for ongoing training and supportive conversations with other leaders on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at Cross View. The Men’s Ministry is hosting a work day at Camp Omega on May 4th. We will meet at church at 8 AM and return by 6 PM. Youth and adults (both men and women) are welcome to join us as we help them prepare for the summer camp programming. We anticipate projects such as trail-clearing, picnic table repairs, light construction projects, and cleaning. Lunch will be provided. Do you love games?!  Are you curious about games you’ve heard about like Splendor, Sagrada, Wingspan, and Codenames? Cross View Game Night is open to all teens and adults, including church members and their guests. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own board games or card games they enjoy. If you bring a game, please be prepared to show others how to play.  Join us for fun and fellowship at church! Senior Adult Ministry Re-Launch Event

Thursday, May 16th from 1:00-3:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall

We are excited to relaunch our Senior Adult Ministry at Cross View! Our first event will include a presentation titled "Faith at America’s Founding" by Chip Combs. Chip has taught at Augsburg and St. Scholastica Colleges and is fascinated by religion, sports, literature, science and history. He wrote a book entitled And God Created America about the faith of the founders of the United States. After the presentation, there will be time to socialize with treats and discuss next steps for our Senior Adult Ministry. This group is intended for those 60+. Again, the gathering will take place on Thursday, May 16th, from 1:00-3:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.  Click here to register on CV Connect!

All current 6th through 12th graders are invited to participate in the Rochester Servant Event (RSE) this summer starting Sunday, June 9 (12:00 pm) through Wednesday, June 12 (10:00 pm), 2024.

We will serve alongside young people and adults from Redeemer Lutheran Church, doing service projects and sharing the love of Jesus in the Rochester community.

RSE has been an amazing opportunity for our youth to experience a short-term mission trip close to home.

Join us for Vacation Bible School (VBS) on June 17 - 21, 2004. The theme for this week-long event is "Scuba: Dive Into Friendship with God." Each day from 9:00 AM to Noon, kids will take a deep into an amazing undersea adventure where they’ll experience the ever-fl owing, never-ending love of God. At Scuba VBS, kids will be immersed in the Word and discover what living water is really all about.  Click here to register.
